Wooden Bowls, Money Box Toadstools, Pens, Spurtles & Other Gifts
I was born in Ayrshire, then grew up in Camelon. I joined the army as a musician playing the saxophone and served ten years. Then I started working for the BP refinery, where I continued to work for thirty years.
I got into woodturning when I saw a demonstration of lathes and woodturning tools in SYMES HARDWARE STORE, Falkirk. I then made a few enquiries about any clubs in the area and found one in “Broxburn Woodcraft Club”. I joined, and that was the start of my hobby.
I went for lessons from a few professionals, one being a Jimmy Clewes, whose classes I thoroughly enjoyed. I now have two lathes, a Record CL3 and a Union graduate.
I get great enjoyment in turning wood blanks into bowls, goblets or whatever I “see” in the wood.
